About the property
Inside
accommodation at Arbolì is laid out on one floor. The main entrance leads into the heart of the home, an impressive open-plan living and dining area that typifies the timeless aristocratic elegance of the property as a whole. The lower half of the walls are covered in antique, aquamarine-and-turquoise-patterned tiles, while the upper sections are painted in soft dove grey and adorned with numerous framed monochrome artworks. The flooring is in venerably faded rectangular terracotta tiles, a feature that flows throughout the property.
To one side of this space, flanking an impressive fireplace clad in the same tiles that enliven the walls, is a sitting area with two large, charcoal sofas and a coffee table. To the other, is a convivial oval dining table. Light streams in via a pair of French doors, one on either side, which also provide seamless access to two large terraces, one overlooking the pool.
An opening near the dining area leads into the west wing and the main sleeping quarters, which comprise:
- the principle bedroom, a double with en-suite bathroom with tub and separate shower (clad in rich peacock-blue patterned tiles), and French doors opening out onto the main terrace
- two double bedrooms with garden views and en-suite shower rooms embellished with sea-green, leaf-shaped tiles
- a bright, well-equipped kitchen with sunshine yellow cabinetry, dresser and breakfast table, and French doors opening out onto a shady al fresco dining area
- a double-twin bedroom with garden views
- a shower room
Outside
surrounded by fields of olive trees, vineyards and fruit orchards, Arbolì’s al fresco areas are wonderfully secluded and tranquil, and offer guests plenty of options for lounging, dining, and enjoying convivial moments together. The two wings of the property partially embrace the main terrace, which is accessed from the central living and dining area and from the principal bedroom. At the centre is an exotic palm tree, whose whispering fronds offer up shade, and a well-furnished sitting area gazes out at uninterrupted views of the surrounding farmland, and, in the distance, the silhouette of Mount Etna’s majestic form rising into the skies.
Perhaps the focal point of your al fresco life at Arbolì will be the splendid T-shaped pool, which extends out above the gardens.
A few steps to one side of the main terrace is a dreamy al fresco dining area that’s shaded by dried palm fronds and accessed directly from the kitchen. Spending lazy lunches and long, star-lit dinners here is easy to get used to.
The main terrace extends around the sides of the property before giving way to areas of lawn dotted with olive trees and San Giuliano's agricultural estate.

About the Area
Arbolì is located on a fertile plain midway between Catania and Siracusa, and around 6km from the Ionian coast.
The nearest beach is a 20-minute drive away at Brucoli, while others are to be found within a 45-minute drive, including those at Fontane Bianche and Arenella. Brucoli itself comes alive in the summer months and has a good selection of restaurants, bars, cafés, shops and other amenities gathered round its harbour.
Ancient, historic, delightful Syracuse is just 30 minutes' drive away to the south, and bustling Catania is a similar distance to the north.
Heading further south, easy day trips will take you to the baroque UNESCO World Heritage towns of Noto, Modica, and Ragusa, and to the pristine sandy beaches and turquoise waters of Vendicari Nature Reserve.
North of Catania, meanwhile is the Pearl of the Mediterranean, Taormina and mighty Mount Etna.
